questionnares and surveys

In the social sciences particularly, alongside questionnaires, interviews are the most important method of primary data collection.

Interviews can be one-on-one between the interviewer and interviewee or with several interviewees at the same time (known as a focus-group).

The purpose of an interview is to elicit in-depth answers to pre-prepared questions. An interview typically provides a greater degree of penetrative data collection than a questionnaire which is completed relatively quickly by a large number of respondents.

Advantages

As above, the principal advantage of an interview is to provide in-depth answers to a series of key questions related to the student's research topic. Interviews are thus an excellent method for obtaining comprehensive and specific raw data. They are also simple and inexpensive to organize, and can be used in a wide range of sectors and demographic groups.

Our Interview Service

Oxbridge Primary Research employs nearly a thousand researchers - including many professors, PhD holders and professional scientists working at the cutting edge of their fields - who are well practised in designing and undertaking interviews of all types.

Interview Template Design

Using this service, your researcher will design an interview template that is perfect for the particular research that you would like to be conducted.

Contact Service

For students who prefer to conduct their interviews themselves, we offer a very useful contact service.

Through our researchers we have contacts at many FTSE 100 companies, leading investment banks, law firms, accountancy firms, hospitals and so on. As such, we can act as an intermediary, arranging interviews on your behalf. You will then visit the contact and conduct the interview yourself.

Conducting the Interviews

Once we have designed your interview template, we can arrange for an agreed number of people within a particular sector or field - healthcare, banking, law etc. - or from the general public to answer your interview questions.

Typically, interviews will be conducted with 1-30 interviewees, although we can use larger groups if you prefer.

We can arrange interviews at venues of your own choosing here in London (also in Oxford and Cambridge) - such as our office, libraries, conference-rooms, hotel-suites, coffee shops - or in similar places in your own city, or the city in which you would like the research to be undertaken.

Interview Transcriptions

Once we have conducted the interviews we can arrange for typed transcriptions to be provided for you, as well as for videotape and audio copies (fees apply).
